Since Demonsul trusted Empire sto me, I am doing this, and also because the only thing I have to do is post one or twice here a day.

EMPI- err, I mean EXPANSION

When the game begins, you write a paragraph or so on your character coming into possession of a medium sized, mostly empty town (thus cutting out most of the boring beginning). After deciding to create yourself an empire, you set about building up the town into a city. This will take place in another post. Then, you get moving in mobilizing whatever forces you wish. Military will not always be he weapon of choice, with bribery and corruption on your left and divine intervention on your right. Oh, and magic is somewhere down the hall, diplomacy is just over there next to corruption and terror will walk opposite benevolence, either one persuading people to join you for a better life, or else risk a worse life or no life at all...

So, here's what you need...in Demonsul's patented QUICK GUIDE
NUMBER ONE:
Paragraph saying how you found your town and you naming it. I probably want my port place so don't steal the name from me please. Your starting town is at random.
NUMBER TWO:
Decide how your going to get this town going. Building is instantaneous, but buildings are very difficult to destroy, so plan for future expansion. see the building article for details.
NUMBER THREE:
Start making relationships with your neighbours. Trade, bribe, threaten, do it however you want. Settle a few new towns, get the ball rolling for your future world domination...or not. It's up to you.
NUMBER FOUR:
Going back to relationships. If you want to make an alliance with a player, but don't want others to know, PM them. Same if you want to do that with a group of NPCs. But if you use trade or bribery, make sure you send me a PM too so I know where to transfer the cash and/or goods.
NUMBER FIVE:
After a while, you might want to create or join a religion. Creating one might look inviting, but remember, the power of your chosen diety relies on how many worship him, so a god worshipped by many will be far more powerful. And don't be afraid to call on the gods. I mean, you worship them. They should be obliged to do something in return. Often it is just reducing negative events, but miracles DO happen. You can split your worship between more than one god, but then they will not respond to your pleas as much.

Building:
You all start with a town. So I will explain: All towns are drawn onto pictures. The size of the picture = the size of the town. so a bigger image leaves more room for expansion. You can make a picture bigger if you want, just ask.

Buildings are all judged on their size. So, size of building = effect strength of building. So a bigger houe will hold more people. With me so far?

There are four categories of building, sorted by color. Individual buildings are classified by a big bold letter. So a building with a big red B on it will be a military barracks.

All buildings use up Money and Stone. More is used depending on size.

RED: Military;

B: Barracks. Will control the maximum number of troops for you to train. So a bigger barracks lets you train more troops. Of course, you still need men to train.

A: Armory. will allow you to train soldiers cheaper by providing cheap weapons. So a bigger armory means cheaper troops. Multiple armories have the same effect. Takes a small amount of employment.

D: Defense. These shield your troops by blocking roads and such. Troops behind a defense get a tactical advantage. These can be anything from stone blocks to bags of sand to metal spikes to a low wall. The bigger they are, the more defense they give. When the city is not under attack, they do not have any use.

W: Wall. the best form of defense besides a fortress. Your troops can get on top and attack, theirs cant even get past without knocking it down. The bigger the wall, the stronger it is and the longer it takes to fell.

F: Fortress. an upgraded town hall, it is drawn directly on top of the town hall. It provides excellent defense, which increases with size. Takes as much employment as the town hall.


YELLOW: RELIGION;

S: Shrine. Provides a small amount of worship, no employees. Size = amount of Worship

T: Temple. Provides medium worship, small amount of employees. Size = amount of worship.

C: Temple Complex. Provides masses of worship. Has to be large to function. Large amount of employees. One per city...well, it replaces the town hall. Completely undefendable. Will REALLY please your god. Size = amount of worship, and you really ought to make this one big. Requires some Gold to build.

A: Altar. Especially for you evil-doers, the altar allows you to make blood sacrifices. Will provide medium employment, and will please only evil gods. Size = amount of sacrifices = amount of worship gained. Be careful with this one...it quickly sacrifices a lot of people.


GREEN: Economy;

F: Farm. Must be pretty large, but only uses a small amount of workers, and is very cheap to build. It is also easy to expand by building onto the fields of a farm. Gains a large amount of Crop. This can be sold cheaply (prices vary, you can sell it to players for your chosen price) or used. Your city wont actually consume crop, (MAGIC NOT EATING PEOPLE!) but it can be used for events (see scenarios). Usually it is just for selling, which can be done without a marketplace for 1 Crop = $1, or at better marketplace rates. Crop is the only Rescource that can be sold without a Marketplace.

Q: Quarry. Mines quite a lot of stone, which sells for a medium price or can be used for building, making it a valuable rescource. Like in VU, it mines more from mountains. Uses a lot of employees, but is not useful during events, except negative ones.

M: Mine. Works well by mountains. Uses a medium amount of labour and produces medium amounts of Gold and small amounts of Stone and Diamond. Gold sells for much, Diamond for even more. Gold and Diamond are very useful during events.

Fac: Magic Factory. Strange foreign tech allows for these strange factories to be built; they put money straight into your coffers with no workers required. However, they need MASSIVE amounts of space to function, and cost a fortune to get running. Also the only building with more than one symbol as a logo, it is so costly.

V: Vault. You MUST HAVE ONE OF THESE IN EVERY TOWN. They store as much Money is necessary, and without them, raiders can take what they like. The bigger they are, the more secure they are, and less is stolen by invaders. This also makes them useful as they function like Defense during a seige.

S: Stockpile. Like a vault, you NEED THIS. It basically functions exactly the same as the vault, but stores Rescources instead of Money.


TEAL: CIVILLIAN;

(blank): House. These range form hovels to mansions, depending on size. The bigger they are, the more people they hold (but many small still hold more than a few large) and reduce the likelihood of 'angry citizen' events.

*: Town Hall. That's right, asterisk. What are you going to do about it? The town hall is a vital structure. There MUST be one in every city. If it is captured, the city is taken over. It can be turned into a keep, but it's size decides how good a defense it is if you don't convert it. It can also be turned into a Temple Complex, but be careful becuase that renders it defenseless. If a town hall gets destroyed, the town is abandoned and vanishes.

M: Magic School. Yeah, here we go. The Magic Shool allows you to cast spells. The bigger it is, the more effective the spell, and the further you can cast them.

$: Marketplace. Kaching! With a dollar sign as a symbol, you know it's gonna be good. If you don't have this, then you can't trade or send (or bribe people with) Money or Resources. The bigger it is, the less you have to pay in trading fees (usually a small % of the transferred goods' worth). A vital structure, as trading fees increase with distance.

HAPPINESS
Your people are usually content, but things like unsanitary housing, unemployment and continuous war upset them. If everything goes pear-shaped, there will be 'angry citizen' events such as riots and thievery.

SCENARIOS
Every now and then I will hand out random events. Try to follow along with them, or bad things will probably happen to you.

If you are fighting against other players in this game, send your battleplans to me.  Whoever wins usually gets to keep the town, unless the victor only wanted to secure the Vault or Stockpile (not the Town Hall) and do some lootin'. In which case the attacker steals large chunk of Money or Resources from the target.

Draw your first town, just don't make it too big or I will make you do it again.  I am a picky person. >_>

I know, why do you think we call Demonsul the Apprentice to Stickman... that needs some changing, he's more like the God of Art now.

The wastelands are made of polluted soil, murky waters, and if you walk in it without puking, you notice that the area is filled corpses of humans and animals.  Not a nice place to start off.  Kinda like hard mode.

Tell me if the city works, just put it somewhere on the map, by a river prefreably so I don't have to redraw my city. Also a suggestion, have Demonsul throw something together quickly? maybe use his old map?


Port Mirage

It's a dark and stormy night, the people of Aglansdale have never seen such a terrifying spectecle. The wind was howling as if Angmar himself screaming at the sea. The waves were two hundred feet high hitting the walls with a fury like no other. The lightning seemed to be to be everywhere. The thunder was so loud that no one could hear himself think.

Yet this storm could not stop the annual fight for leadership of the town. Thier current King took up post just lase year, he was well built and very cunning. He stood there waiting for a challanger, and for a while it seemed that no one would come forth and the village woul have to go home disappointed.

As the King turned back, satisfied with his luck, the people heard the loudest crack of thunder and saw the brightest lightning any of them have ever seen or ever will see again. One and all were temporarily blinded, and when they could see again they saw a terrible creater standing a mere ten feet away from the King.

The people soon realized that this creature was in fact a man, but what a man they saw. His armor was rusted, his shield's emblem could not be recognized, and yet there was something about him. The man said something, but no one heard him. The king, as young as he was, took this as a challange and quickly went the ten feet to fight the challanger.

The King was over anxious and charged forth like a bull, all his life he relied on his strenght to win his battles, but it would not be enough for this one. The challanger quickly side stepped, whipped out his sword, and as the King was going past he stabbed him in the back. The hit was so powerful that it went through the King's armor and into his heart........killing him instantly.

As all the villagers bowed down to the new King the storm suddenly stopped and light broke through the clouds. The sunlight shone on the new King, and the new King alone. As people finally rose they saw something strange, even though this man was ragged and his armor in a terrible state his sword was shining. It was clean and beautiful, even the blood from the old King was gone already, as if it cleaned itself. Suddenly all of the villagers realized that this was no common man, but that this man was the son of a God.

*Without warning the new King began speaking, even though he didn't even raise his voice everyone understood him perfectly. Everyone felt as if he was speaking to them as individuals, as if they and the new King where the only ones talking. All the people grew quite and listened to the new King as if his words were food, and they have been starving for their whole life*

"People of Aglansdale I am your new King. I come here to bring a new age to these lands, to bring civilization and glory. I bring a new religion to you, from a God so powerful he sent his own son to these lands. I will tell you about this religion now, and about myself later. This religion has 6 commandments, and all of you shall follow them.
1. The weak shall not lead, only the strong.
2. All men are brothers, and all women are sisters, we are one.
3. No stealing shall accure in these lands.
4. Killing of one's brother or sister will not be permitted.
5. Hard work equals success.
6. You are devoted to your Empire, and shall do only good to it.
*All the villagers heard these commandments and suddenly knew they would follow them no matter what. They knew that thier new King's name was Adrastos and that their new Religion was named Adrastonism.

The town was re-named Port Mirage because with Adrastos came a heavy fog, and only the rightful could see through it.


NOTE: The Heavey Red Lines are the Walls, the pink line is a bridge, the brown line along the wall is a gate.

Demonsul surveyed his new town. It was a town built to be expanded, a town built to control. It was named Bazun.
Ever since they had arrived, they had worked on this town. Now it was finished, the settlers all moved in, content with Demonsul's dedication and leadership. Soon, Bazun would not be the only town under his control.
Looking around, Demonsul marveled at the giant marble Temple of the Old Beliefs, where the red, white, black and blue crystal sculptures that represented the elemental gods sat in their heroic poses. He surveyed his tall stone walls, and tested every gate. He also did a trial of the quick-deploy defenses, that covered choke points when needed and could be stored at the side of the road when not. He visited the massive barracks, where the troops were doing training exercises in the shadow of the temple. He then retired to his Town Hall lodgings, awaiting the challenge tomorrow would bring.

Killer sighed with relief. His vision had come true. He looked at his town with pride, many farms with houses for the workers. Admittedly he had not built it, and couldn't say he had forcefully taken it from a hardened group of warriors, but he had found it, and it was his and his peoples' town now. It was easily defendable, having many magic schools and various defences, but yet had many farms dotted around to provide that vital food and a good source of income.

[There's 50 homes, 80 farms, 10 armouries, 4 barracks and 10 magic schools and the other stuff. I'm guessing it's too "big" though, even if it's not big as such... If it is, I'll just try and merge the farms together, and the houses, and maybe that other stuff. It's probably neater than the ones I did in Demonsul's.]

Oh, and it's called "Seandun".

Month One:

Early colonists land onto the continenet of Lanetta, setting up the first two towns, Bazun and Port Mirage.  Demonsul says he supports the Old Beliefs as his religion, and Adrastos says he supports a God, doesn't really go into detail what it's called.  Also, due to some fault of the man who desgined this game, lumberyards have been added to the two starting towns free of charge. (Woot.)

After being bale to stand their ground against the wild and weather, the people cheer when the town of Bazun is formed.  Gold and Stone resources are very easy to find, but firewood for homes is hard, due to the rigid terrain around mountains.  Either they can build more lumberyards, or just buy some wood.

The Mirage Post

Even though the people of Port Mirage have a home to live in, they have about a foot of space in their house.  The reason why Lumber production is so low is because a few people tried to start a fire in their homes, and ended up dead, burning alive.  Happiness is low, and will continue to go down until Adrastos does something about the living conditions.

Seandun Newsletter

The town was a big success.  Everything was well balanced, the amount of houses to the amount of jobs available.  Things are just an easy ride for them.  However, some people that just never think anything is perfect (m0r0ns) are asking for a religion and temple.

A tribe of mountain trols came down from the mountains and settled close by the river, setting their big eyes on the town across the river.  It is advisable to prepare for any attack that might occur.

The Mirage Post

The new living standards in the Port Mirage have helped out much.  There actually enough room for people to live in.  Their lumber is now in use, and the port has been asked by Demonsul for a trade for their lumber for Demonsul's stone.  However, a tribe of orcs living in the wastelands have settled closeby Port Mirage, and, as with msot orcs, they don't listen to reasoning.  Expect an attack someday in the future.

Things still going well, Seandun is going through smooth sailing.  They have spotted a rough group of humans in a settlement North of them, however.  They pose no threat, though, but it is advisable to be on your watch.

[Sorry, a question: What sort of magic is there? Also, how come I didn't get any more resources?]

Killer saw that his town was fine. He decided to ignore the strange folk asking for a religion, and reckoned it would be best to find out about those humans in Welse village. He decides to send ten men off to investiage. Three people would go inside and ask for an audience with the master of the town(whatever the title is). The other seven would see if they come out of the city, while hiding somwhere nearby. He decided that the time was right to sell his crops(if I can yet), unsure of the costs of crops on average, and it seemed $3 was a fairly good price per crop.

Status Report of Welsel Village:

Race: Human
Number of Troops: 61 (-5)

Welsel Village accepted the offer to speak with the representatives, but during the negotioations, the three men fell over dead, a few moments after being offered for a drink of water.  Either they poisoned it, or the water supply there just sucks.  The seven men, impatient after waiting several hours, sends two men to go investigate.  When they reach the room where the negotiations took palce, they found three dead bodies and five guards.  The guards attack, but die quickly, due to the lax training the yreceived.  The seven men leave and come back to Seandun, to report what has happened.


17:38:25 Dec 20th 08 - Mr. Demonsul:

  • Sell all gold and diamond at standard market rate (except ten diamond)
  • Train as many soldiers as possible.
  • Send an envoy to the trolls with the ten diamond to bribe them into leaving Bazun alone and go bother someone else.
  • If they do not comply, well, that's what the soldiers are for. Make preparations to defend the town.

Train as many troops as possible (30% archers, 70% infantry). Spread the archers evenly on the 4 walls, and spread the additional infantry evenly along all of the D's and inside by the *.

Mirage Port's Defense Plan
The archers will fire at the Orcs once they break in, after that they will hit the D's where the Infantry will fight (transfer from one D to another if one is not being attacked). If they break through the D's or the wall the 25 Inf. will fight them and the D's will re-inforce them.

It is well known that the Orcs will attack from the west (the bigger half of town), they won't try crossing the river since they are a bit too dumb.

Demonsul sent a convoy of 15 (standard convoy number for this game unless you ask differently) and 10 diamonds.  When spotted, you are attacked on sight, losing three men until one of your men had the sense to show them the diamonds.  You speak to their leader, well, more like show him the diamonds, and you think he agreed to leave alone Bazun for now.  (Peace period will last 5 months (aka days).

The orcs didn't want to attack at the very moment, but when they see you are preparing for war, they are stupid enough to go ahead and attack you... with just 80 troops.  They manage to break through the walls, sustaining medium losses and head to the temple, where they completely destroy it.  They then break through the wall surrounding the important areas, and are finally all killed at the town hall.

Now that I won and the Orcs lost I am sendng 19 Inf. and 10 Archers to attack their town. Plunder it, loot it, destroy it............and leave no one alive.

Retrain to maximum amount of troops. Re-pair the temple.

Surprisingly, most settlements in the land have been able to last a little bit.  A gust of cold weather turned the land around the mountains Arctic (again, blunder of me for forgetting.)  Currently, only Seandun is enemies of someone, and peace is worldwide as of right now, so it may seem...

Killer surveys his city and his people inside. 30 soldiers were trained(-$300) and all the crop was sold. 80(30 archers amd 50 infantry if there are two types) soldiers were sent out to Welsel Village, despite their spies lazy method of doing things and not reporting how people were inside the village, they still said there weren't all that many. He himself went along with them to oversee operations and plan the attack when they got there(If I can't, just charge the wall and break it down, huddle in a group, get the archers to shoot anything that moves, then kill everyone with the infantry)

Battle Report:

When you reached the town, you encountered massive amounts of guards, being able to hold you off until you finally break through, and charge into the city.  You burn, plunder, and kill anyone of thing in sight.  Welsel Village falls.

SCENARIO NUMBER ONE!
Bandits are spotted across the lands, and head to all major towns and prepare for siege closeby.  All attackers have forces of 100, and only want to pillage your lands.  Prepare for battle, tommorow, things will get interesting...

Time to upgrade my town...

Demonsul stood, watching the new line mine at work. Half-buried into a ridge in the now snow-covered ground, it mined raw materials from within the ridge. Then, Demonsul heard the news about the bandits. He sent out the order that as many troops as possible be trained, and returned to the Town Hall to draw up the battle plan.
When it was done, he joined the soldiers at the south gate, swinging his sword to exercise his freezing muscles. He would stand and fight with them, wherever they fought.

  • Sell all gold and diamond.
  • Upgrade town to THIS, if stone runs dry, buy some. (Note: Larger houses, thus happier people)
  • With however much money is left over, buy as many troops as possible.
  • Use the following plan; BATTLEPLAN (note: line mine is a strategic nightmare, will not be directly defended as it makes it an uphill battle)
  • ---All troops evenly spaced across red region.
  • ---If lower red wall falls, retreat those men to the yellow region.
  • ---If yellow or upper red wall falls, fall back EVERYONE to blue region. Defend the core structures with your lives.
  • Then, when all is done, count losses, and if there is anything we can loot from the enemy, do so.

---Enlarge the town using the stone/lumber
---Buy more Stone/Lumber if needed
---If I can't build anymore just forget the fort and build the rest

BATTLEPLAN
---Put 30% of my men at each D
---The remaining 40% will go inside the walls (by Fort)
---Spread the archers evenly on the walls surrounding the Fort/Town Hall
---Once the rebels break through go fight them, reinfoce the force inside the walls if the rebels break through to there.
---If attacked only on one side then one of the D's should re-inforce them

---With what money is left train as many troops as possible (60% Infantry/40% archers)

Something is up with paint, sorry. I have 130 men in total, I trained 30 more soldiers yesterday. I had want 50 archers on the outside wall, who will move immediately to wherever the attackers come from(if two groups, split them up, same for infantry). When the bandits get past the first wall, they fall back to the second wall. 80 infantry along around the buildings(same again, go to where attackers come from. When the get past these, (all troops)fall back to the important buildings(town centre, vault and stockpile). Prevent the bandits from attacking as many buildings as possible on the way.

Attack on Bazun: DEMONSUL VICTORY!

The attackers come from the north and burn down the north mines, and then break into the main square.  However, ALL OF THE TROOP FALL BACk and beat the crap out of the bandits.

Bandits: Dead

Attack on Port Mirage: BANDITS VICTORY!

The bandits attack from the residential area, burning all of the houses and farms on the other side of the river.  They cross the bridge and burn the remainder of the farmlands.  75 of the bandits attack the defense, which falls after the bandits take small losses.  The other 25 bandits attack the town, and burn most of he buildings around the defended area.  The force of twenty five is killed when it reaches the walls, but the remaining 60 bandits attack the vault and stockpile, and take all of the town's money and resources.

The bandits attack in a surprise attack and kill all of the town's soldiers, and take all of the resources.

Attacks on many towns have ruined the lands.  Only one town has manged to win the fight against bandits.  The rest of the towns will have to go through much before they can manage to get on their feet again.Bazun

The Mirage Post

The victory against the orcs barely lasted, for now, the town is going through a time of despair.  Happiness is at an alltime low, people are dying of hunger, and are freezing at night.  If Adrastos doesn't do something quick, he may be overthrowed!

Erasing the Killer stats, sorry.

Things have really changed up, I sure hope Demonsul likes you two people enough to give you help packages, otherwise, you're in big trouble.  My advice for Adrastos is to come up with better defense plans, and Killer, are you not playing this anymore?

Attack on Seandun: KILLER VICTORY!

Two groups of fifty bandits charge into the walls, and bring down two sections, and charge into the town.  The bandit group attacked on the maingates are creamed, but the other fifty manage to get past to first wall.  However, they are easily wiped out by the attacking 80 FREAKIN soldiers and the bandits all die.

[NO LOSSES! Strategy For The Win!]

Demonsul sat in his office, surveying the burning mines. The bandits were all dead, and for that he was glad. His battlefield tactics had proved successful, and he would have no problem with his future plans. But for now, he called his assistant, and told him, "Hmm...looks like the land is in trouble...rebuild the line mine, and send the following message to every town ravaged by bandits;

'To [Leader Name Here],
I am sorry for your losses. Bazun is sorry for your losses. We would most definitely want to help rebuild your towns. Sadly, the world is not free. We will help, but on condition that within four months (four days) you will have to repay the aid by 200%. This means that if we send 50 stone to help you rebuild, you will have to send back 100 stone within the four month period. This is the price of aid in these troubled times.

Wow wow wow, hold on a second!

1. I made my Baracks TWICE as large, and I told to train as many troops as I could. So that means I would have at least 200 men right?.....ok AT LEAST 180 men.

2. Each Defense had a good portion of my men, so I had 40 Men at each of the D's. 40 Vs 75 men, but wait that wasn't ALL of my directions. I also told my men that if they are not being attacked them to reinfoce, the other D was not being attacked so they re-inforced the D by the River. So now its 80 vs. 75 with me having the higher ground, and defenses to stand behind.

3. I had (if I had AT LEAST 180 men) 45 Archers on the walls as well, what happened to them. Did they forget to Fire at the Rebels? While the Rebels are fighting at the D by the river the Archers just stood and watched?

4. What about 40% of my Infantry, that's 55 Men INSIDE the walls waiting for the bandits?! Not to mention that Archers where on those walls firing down upon the Bandits!

5. If my men at the other D did not follow my directions and did not re-inforce the other D, then they would re-inforce my men in the gates.......that would of been 95 Men WITH 45 Archers firing down upon the Rebels.


Tell me how did I lose?
